Looking for Alaska

In my experience, John Green books have always been easy to read, so I picked up this book to have a stress-free evening. I must say, John Green definitely paints a picture through his writing, and I was captivated by this book from the front cover to the back.

This book starts out being a casual, chill story bout some kids at school and got me thinking “Aww this is so sweet, what could possibly go wrong?”. Just when you think everything’s sunshine and roses, that’s when you get hit by something tragic. Classic John Green huh?

Well the rest of the story focuses on how characters deal with tragic incidents and I had a heavy heart till the end. Through the character, the author focusses on one question: How will we ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering?

The story ends with my favourite quote from the book:
(STOP reading right now if you’re not a fan of knowing the end of the book 😛 )
Everything that comes together falls apart. The cells and organs and systems that make you cry – they came together, grew together and so must fall apart.

The cessation of desire meant the cessation of suffering. When you stopped wishing things wouldn’t fall apart, you’d stop suffering when you did.

Happy reading! 🙂
